The Team at the Face & Eye Clinic is determined to continue to provide exemplary care for our patients as we re-open the clinic following our temporary closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. The safety of our patients and our staff is of paramount importance. We want to reassure our current and new patients that we are following the infection control guidance from Public Health England, the Royal College of Surgeons, and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. We have implemented specific measures to help to protect our patients, our clinicians and our members of staff as follows:

  • Virtual online consultations wherever possible – to minimize face to face contact (the guidance dictates that this should not exceed 15 mins)
  • Telephone calls to screen and assess all patients before booking appointments
  • Additional screening telephone call 24 hours before attending the clinic
  • Only asymptomatic patients should attend the clinic
  • No visitors or accompanying persons are permitted in the clinic unless this has been agreed before the appointment
  • Patients should wait in their car rather than in the clinic before their appointment – our staff will call you when they are ready for your appointment
  • Fewer patients will be present in the clinic at any one time and there will be longer gaps between appointments to allow for the cleaning of the clinic areas and the equipment
  • Non-contact temperature measurements will be taken of anyone who enters the clinic – if your temperature exceeds 37.80C your appointment will be cancelled and re-arranged
  • You will be asked to wash your hands before and after your appointment
  • We ask you to observe and follow all signs and instructions on social distancing once you are in the clinic
  • We ask you to wear a face mask at all times in the clinic except for your clinical examination
  • In addition to the above, patients preparing for surgery will be asked to:
  • self-isolate for 14 days prior to surgery
  • where this is not possible, patients may be asked to undergo a coronavirus test within 72 hours of the planned surgery date

OUR CLINIC WILL HAVE A CHANGED APPEARANCE AND WILL FUNCTION A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY

  • We have moved seating to maintain social distancing
  • We have removed high risk items from communal areas e.g. coffee/ tea stations, water cooler
  • All our forms and information will be sent to patients electronically
  • Our information leaflets and our before and after portfolios have been removed
  • Only card or BACS payments will be accepted
  • Staff will be wearing PPE in line with their roles, which may include a face mask, surgical gloves, and a face shield

Please note: COVID-19: in the majority of patients, COVID-19 causes a mild, self-limiting illness but the symptoms and consequences may be highly variable amongst individuals and it is important you understand the specific risk profile to yourself. There is no guarantee of zero risk of COVID-19 transmission. For more information please visit: www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
