I met Mr. Leatherbarrow who is extremely friendly and made me feel very relaxed. He did not make a judgement about my eyes but asked me what I liked and disliked about my eyes. He was very professional and explained a couple of procedures that could achieve a positive outcome for me.

There are so many cosmetic surgeons opening businesses and it was difficult to work out whom to choose. Obviously I wanted the best I could get, as it’s my eyes. I visited my own G.P who suggested Mr. Leatherbarrow. I researched his website and felt fairly confident as Mr. Leatherbarrow specialises in eyes. There was lots of information on the website which included details of the procedures, the after care, and before and after pictures.

I rang his office and spoke to Dr. Leatherbarrow’s right hand lady who is very friendly and extremely efficient. She dealt with my enquiry and made an appointment for me to see him the week after (anything you want to know just call).

I informed Mr. Leatherbarrow that I was getting married in 7 weeks time. The pressure was on! He told me that he would do the best he could but realistically there could still be a small amount of residual swelling. He also informed me about risks like infection and had I seen this on the Internet. He also went through the after care procedures and the techniques of massaging under the eyes.

I felt relaxed and confident with Mr. Leatherbarrow and decided to go ahead and have the operation. I turned up a week later to have the operation, the nurses were reassuring, the anaesthetist was professional and explained the options that were available. Dr. Leatherbarrow came to see me to ensure that any final questions I had were answered.

I said goodbye to my partner and daughter and went down to theatre. I was given a general anaesthetic and before I knew it I was back in my room with my head bandaged. A nurse was with me who was reassuring and explained that the operation had gone wel. She took my hand and gave me the buzzer just in case I needed her. The nurse gave me two pain killers (these are the only two I had after the operation and when I was recovering).

The bandages were removed in the morning and the nurse gave me the eye drop and creams for my eyes, another appointment was made in four weeks to see Mr. Leatherbarrow and an emergency contact number was given to me.

The one thing I did not realise was how much after care was involved. I had to put the eye drops in every hour and put cream on regularly during the day. I also had to use the massage technique that Mr. Leatherbarrow had shown me.

I was very careful, keeping my hands very clean when touching my eyes and applying the eye drops and cream.

I felt comfortable enough to return to work two weeks after the operation. There was still some bruising and swelling (I did not scare anybody though! )

I saw Mr. Leatherbarrow 4 weeks after the operation and he felt that everything had gone to plan. He was very pleased with the results, but informed me that I still needed to massage under the eyes, which I did. As anyone can see from my wedding album ‘no bags’ after only 7 weeks.

Thank you Mr. Leatherbarrow. If I must say so myself I looked gorgeous! ”
